Heritage Field is a proud supporter of the local aviation and public communities. It contributes significantly to the economic growth of the Limerick/Pottstown area.

Heritage Field started as an airfield in 1928, it was then known as Pottstown-Limerick airport. It received airport licensing from the state in 1931. In 1968 PECO acquired the airport due to its proximity to the planned Limerick nuclear generation plant. PECO contracted with PennAirways to manage the airport at that time and PennAirways managed the airport operations until 2022. In 2022 Pottstown-Limerick airport and PennAirways (to be renamed) were acquired by local business man, avid pilot and vintage aircraft collector David Pitcairn. 

Each year Heritage Field hosts a number of events. In 2022, this will include PAOP's 69th annual Fly-in Pancake Breakfast and Lobsterfest along with welcoming thousands of visitors to the airport for airplane rides, community and youth-oriented events, vintage aircraft and airplane tours.
