Pottstown Aircraft Owners and Pilots is pleased to announce that we have funds available that may help you achieve your goals. In 2022 we started funding our scholarship endowment fund and we are currently looking for people over the age of 16 who are interested in pursuing a career in any of the following categories:
Pilots
- The airline industry needs to hire an average of 14,500 new pilots each year until 2030 in order to get in front of the shortage.
Aviation Maintenance
- 2027— projected to be the worst year for the shortage. The bleakest scenario has the supply deficit at more than 48,000 aircraft maintenance workers, or a shortfall of about 27%.
Air/Space Traffic Control
The FAA plans to hire roughly 1,500 controllers this year, and another 1,800 next year. According to the National Air Traffic Controller Association (NATCA), staffing levels are at a 30-year low, while two in 10 air traffic controller positions remain unfilled nationwide.
Airport Management
Travel is taking off once again post-pandemic. The International Air Travel Association (IATA) recently boosted its 2022 forecasts, projecting that global air traffic will grow 98% this year compared to last year — reaching 82% of 2019 levels
Aviation Weather
The NWS employs over 4000 people across numerous offices and center, offering meteorologists interested in aviation forecasting a wide variety of careers. Drone Pilot
The estimated total pay for a Drone Pilot is $120,883 per year in the United States area, with an average salary of $89,232 per year. These numbers represent the median, which is the midpoint of the ranges, estimated additional pay is $31,652 per year. Additional pay could include cash bonus, commission and tips.
